Laurene L. Timme, 69, of Lewiston, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at the Life Care Center of Lewiston from complications of cancer.

She was born March 1, 1939, at Yakima, to Loren L. and Katherine M. Whitlock. She lived in Yakima and attended school through the third grade. She moved with her family to Lewiston and attended St. Stanislaus School through the eighth grade. She went to the ninth grade at the Notre Dame Academy in Colton and then attended Lewiston High School.

She married Joe Dickeson April 24, 1957, in Lewiston. They later divorced.

She married Henry L. Timme April 14, 1959, in Coeur d'Alene.

She worked for the Lewiston Police Department from 1968 until 1976. She became a certified nurse's assistant and went to work at Lewiston Care Center and later for Alternative Nursing Services in Lewiston.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Lewiston, where she was an usher, eucharistic minister and chairperson for various church groups. She was also a member of the Lewiston Eagles Lodge. She served as a den mother and den leader coach at McSorley Elementary and for the Valley Law Enforcement Explorer Post No. 176. She was the first female explorer leader at Post No. 176.

She is survived by her husband, Henry of Lewiston; daughters, Theresa A. and husband Warren Holcomb of Grangeville, Debra L. Timme of Lewiston, and Denise E. and husband Jeff Chaffins of Moscow; sons, Louis L. Timme of Lewiston, and Eric S. and wife Samantha Timme of Oak Harbor, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Katherine Whitlock; a brother, LaVern L. Whitlock; and a sister, Sharon L. Goins Stevens.

There will be a special rosary dedicated to Laurene recited at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church. A vigil service for family and friends, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial to follow at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.
