BRUNSON, S.C. Larry Lee Dickinson, 56, a Lewiston High School graduate,
died Saturday of multiple gunshot wounds during an exchange of gunfire
with two Hampton County deputies responding to a report of domestic
violence at his home here.
He was born Sept. 20, 1939, at Grangeville to Clair O. and Helen Gruber
Dickinson.
He graduated from high school at Lewiston and attended the University of
Washington at Seattle.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was married and divorced.
He worked as chief electronics technician with the National Oceanic
Atmospheric Administration at Washington, D.C., and retired in 1994.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include one son, Eric Anthony Jewel of Charleston, S.C.; two
daughters, Toni Lea Manning of Brunson and Amy Lynn Bridges of
Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Charlene Walters of Seattle and Carol
Gay Burke of Spokane; and two granddaughters.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at John Liberatos Crematorium
Chapel at Charleston.
A private burial will take place at a later date.
