Gene Andersen, 83, of Lewiston, died Sunday, May 28, 2023. He was born Oct. 13, 1939, to Fritz and Erna Andersen in Spokane. He graduated from Lewiston High School in the class of 1957. He went to work for Sylvan’s Furniture and retired from there 42 years later. Gene was a Cubmaster and past president of Lewiston Youth Baseball.

Gene married Louise Alexander on Aug. 12, 1989. Louise and Gene enjoyed the outdoors, four- wheeling, hunting, fishing and traveling with family and friends. Later they changed their lifestyle and spent the winters in Yuma, Ariz. After retiring, Gene fulfilled his lifetime dream of building his own home.

Gene is survived by his wife Louise, his son Dan (wife Holly) of Ridgefield, Wash., daughter Terrie Madani of Lewiston, daughter Lori (husband Rod) of Phoenix and sister-in-law Barbara Andersen of Lewiston. Gene is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with stepchildren Darold Hughes (wife Paula) and Dee Deskin of Lewiston, Marty Hughes of Clarkston along with several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Fritz and Erna Andersen, along with his brothers Dick, Bill and Don Andersen. 

A celebration of life will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, June 12, at Mountain View Funeral Home, 3521 Seventh St., Lewiston.
