David T. Nichols, 62, Kent, Wash.

David Thomas Nichols, 62, of Kent, Wash., died of cancer Saturday, June
2, 2001, at his daughter's home in Lewiston.
He was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Kemmerer, Wyo., to Jess and Elma Hallberg
Nichols. The family lived briefly in Laramie, Wyo., and Portland, Ore.,
before moving to Lewiston in 1946.
Nichols attended Lewiston schools, where he excelled in sports and
played saxophone in school and dance bands. He graduated from Lewiston
High School in 1957 and from the University of Idaho in 1963 with a
bachelor of science degree in education. While at UI, he was a member of
Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959.
David was divorced from Bonnie French, whom he married in 1962, and from
Diane George, whom he married in 1969.
He began working as a customer service agent for West Coast Airlines in
Lewiston in 1962 and later was employed by Hughes Airwest, Republic
Airlines and Northwest Airlines. During his career, he lived in Spokane
(1977-1982), Mesa, Ariz. (1982-1990), the Seattle area (1990-1992 and
1994-2001), and Reno (1992-1994).
Nichols is survived by a son, Reed and Mona Nichols of Las Vegas; three
daughters, Darci and Gerry Heintz of Lewiston and Kimberly and Kevin
Bridges and Cindy and Eric Tash, all of Las Vegas; and 11 grandchildren,
Jessica, Casey, Matthew and Allison Nichols, Ryan and Garret Heintz,
Zachary, Jordan and Jacob Bridges and Kendall and Cayla Tash. His
brother, Darrel, also survives in Leavenworth, Wash.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Friday at Vassar-Rawls Funeral
Home in Lewiston, followed by a no-host gathering at Little Harry's
Restaurant at the Lewiston Airport.
The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society in care of
Darlene Kidder, 2130 Sunset Drive, Lewiston.
