William S. Hart, 67, Longview, Washington

Longview resident, William "Bill" Seth Hart, 67, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at St. John Medical Center. He was born in Bandon, Ore., Oct. 17, 1939, to William S. and Bernice (Larson) Hart Sr. Bill graduated from Lewiston High School in Idaho in 1957. He served in the Navy from 1957-1960 as a fire control tech. He operated, maintained and repaired combat systems and worked on the first offensive ballistic missile program that the U.S. had. He was an engineer on all three systems, the Atlas, Regulus and Regulus II. In 1974, Bill and his wife Marja came to Longview from Las Vegas, where they lived for six years. She survives him at home.

Bill worked for Boeing in many highly specialized projects until 1968 when he joined and remained an active member of IBEW 970. He was past president, business manager and pension fund trustee for the Cornell & Hart Pension Fund. He retired in 2000. Bill and Marja enjoyed traveling overseas and Hawaii; they enjoyed RVing and snowbirding in Arizona and Mexico. Bill loved golfing and fishing.

He is survived by sons, Sami Ahlgren of Longview; Damon Hart of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; daughter, Denise Sandoval of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill Hart's name to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, P.O. Box 19024, Seattle, WA 98109.
